Occasionally one might see a restaurant on television that celebrates a customer's birthday with singing waiters and a free item on the menu. Unfortunately, these places actually exist. Farell's Ice Cream Parlor has been opened in the city of Brea, but it has recently flocked in customers from OC with its relatively new establishment in Buena Park. The ice cream parlor was famous for having singing waiters come to the customer with a free sundae if it was his or her birthday. I was somewhat fortunate enough to experience this ice cream parlor.
After being seated, I was appalled by the ridiculous prices on the menu. Why would I pay above $7 for ice cream? Unfortunately, my friends told the waiter that it was my birthday. I quickly showed the waiter my student I.D. because I did not want several waiters singing and banging a drum around me while giving me a sundae.
Although sandwiches and hamburgers were also served, my friends and I opted to share a somewhat pricey ice cream dish. The "ice cream nachos" was just three scoops of different flavored ice cream on a plate with pieces of a waffle cone. The ice cream was not creamy enough and the waffle cone would break when attempting to dip it in ice cream. This led to the use of spoons instead of having the intended “nacho” effect. It was very displeasing to eat ice cream with spoons when one is not supposed to.
All in all, Farell's Ice Cream Parlor is a plausible establishment but makes many customers feel uncomfortable and awkward when there are singing waiters with expensive ice cream dishes.
