There are few teenagers who dare to dream beyond the accepted limits of ambition, who constantly strive to take positive action in their community as well as in their own lives. 17-year-old Dorothy Ho from Garden Grove, a senior who currently attends Orange County School of the Arts in Santa Ana, is no exception.
As a young girl, Dorothy faced difficult circumstances as she and her two younger siblings were shuffled from one foster home to the next, finally reuniting with their mother after nine months in several different homes. Even with almost all of the family together, things were tough and have remained tough for the family.
“My mom has lost her job and we’ve become incredibly poor and we don’t make enough money,” Dorothy admits with ease and self-reflection. “So even now, I still have certain limitations.”
But these “limitations” have hardly prevented her from relentlessly pursuing her dream to become a dancer and performer. “I want to be a screenplay writer, comedian, actor, and professional dancer,” she lists proudly.
